Data Heavy Design Needs
Dell Inc. is a global family of businesses that empowers countries, communities, customers and people everywhere to use technology to realize their dreams, build its digital future, transform IT and protect their most important asset – information. Dell was looking to produce a comprehensive annual report that highlighted the work the organization had done, specifically in its IT infrastructure business unit.
The information Dell wanted to convey was data and content driven, lacking any visual interest for their key audiences. They wanted a partner that could bring creative design elements to the report to make the data easily digestible and engage their audience.
Turning Data into Visuals
Since 2011, we’ve worked with Dell executives daily on projects ranging from executive presentations, reports, videos, websites, events and all types of collateral materials across all our solutions offerings. Based on our background with the company, Dell enlisted Ballyhoo to take the copy-heavy information for their annual report and bring it to life.
Ballyhoo spent time with the Dell team learning about what they envisioned for their annual report and the story they wanted to tell. We used that insight to inform how we would layout the report and bring the data to life.
The creative team used photography and iconography to break up large copy blocks while still supporting the narrative. Key details and call-out points were given graphic treatments to make the data easily understandable at a glance. We also used color to organize sections of the report for ease of navigation. Ballyhoo took large amounts of complex information and organized it in a design that the audience could easily understand.
Reporting Investment Success
The final product was informative and the reader was able to clearly understand the importance of investments made in the IT infrastructure at Dell, creating business value and driving Dell forward as a leading end-to-end solutions provider.
